first Holy Communion

Preparation and first reception of the Sacraments Reconciliation and Eucharist take place for children in second grade. All children preparing for these Sacraments must first have received the Sacrament of Baptism.



Youth older than 2nd grade in need of First Penance and First Communion will participate in a special sacrament class.

Important Dates

First penance Parent Meeting

The parent meeting for First Penance will be Wed., Sept. 16, 2026 at 6:30pm in the Holy Spirit Gathering Space. This meeting is for Parents of Faith Formation & St. John Paul II second graders. At least one parent is to attend the meeting.

First Communion Retreat

The First Communion Retreat for the 2nd graders will be Wednesday, March 31, 2027 from 5:15-7:15pm in the St. John Paul II School Gym and Holy Spirit Church. At least one parent is to attend the retreat with their son/daughter. Pizza supper provided. The retreat will be led by the PES Sisters.

The Celebration of First Holy Communion
will take place at the Masses on the weekend
of April 4, 2027 in both parishes.
