Catechesis of the
Good Shepherd
Kindergarten students participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) for kindergarten Faith Formation on Wednesday evenings. St. John Paul II preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade students participate in CGS weekly during the school day for Faith Formation.
What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?
CGS provides formation for children in an intentionally curated Atrium, where each child explores their own personal relationship with Jesus through lessons, hands-on works and prayer. Currently, our pastorate has a Level I atrium. Sessions are held once per week and last approximately 90 minutes.
Who can sign up?
Currently, our pastorate has a Level I atrium for 3- to 6-year-old children. Children should be potty-trained to participate. Annual registration will opens late-summer. CGS also offers Level II (ages 6-9) and Level III (ages 9-12) atriums, which we are discerning opening in the future.
Who can lead a CGS class?
We are in need of catechists and helpers to help bring CGS to more children! Catechists attend special training in order to instruct CGS sessions. We currently have three trained Catechists in our pastorate: Briana Mueller, Kourtney Denne and Lily Honnerman. The cost of training is covered for those interested in becoming a trained catechist. Helpers are present in the atrium to guide children to different activities, engage in one-on-one discussion, and assist with anything else needed. No specific training is needed for atrium helpers.
We are seeking adults to become Level I trained catechists! All expenses are paid for individuals to become trained. See below for details!
